From Trafficking Charges to Conditional Sentence Order
Earlier this year, I represented a client that was facing trafficking charges for fentanyl. This is a very serious charge and the client was very distressed. After meeting with the client, I was able to learn about the client’s history and background. I learned that this was not a simple issue but instead there were other factors involved that impacted the client and their actions.
Based on this learning, I was able to have a psychological report that was completed prior to pre-sentencing. This was extremely important as the client had a history of mental health issues and the report determined that he had a bipolar disorder.
The client was able to start taking medication and got a job as well. Due to the report and his actions as well as my entire defence, the charges were dropped to a conditional sentence order. The client did not go to jail but does have electronic monitoring in place.
The client completely changed his life and one could say even has a new lease on life. Not every situation is black and white and in this case a person was able to get a proper diagnosis, medication and a second chance.
I’m happy I was able to help this client. If you are facing drug trafficking charges or any criminal charges, it is imperative you have an experienced lawyer that has empathy and understanding for your situation. I am happy to offer a free consultation and to discuss your case confidentially.
